AWARD NOMINATIONS INFORMATION
CABE invites you to submit applications for Administrator of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Paraeducator of the Year, and Family/Community Advocate of the Year, as well as applications for the Seal of Excellence School Award, and Bilingual Teachership Awards. This is an opportunity to honor individuals and schools in each category for their excellence, dedication, multicultural competency, educational equity for all multilingual and English learner students, and the promotion of dual language education.
CABE also invites you to encourage students to submit their creative, authentic works of writings for the Student Writing Award for TK-12 grades, which focus on the conference theme of Embracing Multilingualism: Shaping the Future—Every Language, Every Student. Please review the grade levels, prompts, and requirements in the Student Writing Award information.
Submission Deadlines
Seal of Excellence School Award:
October 7, 2026 at 11:59 pm (PDT)
All other awards:
December 3, 2026, at 11:59 PM (PST)
All applicants must be active CABE members through April 30, 2027, to be eligible for the following awards: Administrator of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Paraeducator of the Year, Family/Community Advocate of the Year, or Bilingual Teachership Awards. However, applicants for Seal of Excellence School and Student Writing Awards do not need to be active members to apply. Click here to renew, verify, and learn about memberships.

ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR
The California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) will recognize an outstanding administrator who has made significant contributions to bilingual education and the education of multilingual and English learner students. This award provides an opportunity to honor an exceptional individual at the CABE 2027 Annual Conference for their excellence, dedication, and leadership in promoting bilingual education in California.
This is an opportunity to honor one of these exceptional individuals at the CABE 2027 Annual Conference for their excellence, dedication, and promotion of bilingual education in California. The Administrator of the Year selection committee will review the nominations and select the recipient.
The recipient will be notified by January 21, 2027.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR
The California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) will honor an outstanding California classroom teacher who has made significant contributions to the education and equity of multilingual and English learner students through excellence, dedication, and advocacy. The CABE 2027 Teacher of the Year Award recognizes these exceptional achievements.
The recipient will be notified by January 21, 2027.

PARAEDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
The California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) will acknowledge the exceptional contributions of bilingual paraeducators, including classified staff, instructional assistants, community/family/parent liaisons, teacher’s aides, and other support staff who serve multilingual and English learner students throughout California. This award honors those paraeducators who have gone above and beyond to support bilingual education and the students they serve. At the CABE 2027 Annual Conference, we will celebrate an outstanding bilingual paraeducator for their excellence, dedication, and commitment to promoting bilingual education.
The recipient will be notified by January 21, 2027.

FAMILY/COMMUNITY ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR
The California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) will recognize an outstanding family or community leader with the Family/Community Advocate of the Year Award at the CABE 2027 Annual Conference.
If you or someone you know has made significant contributions to bilingual education and multilingual and English learner programs, you are invited to submit a nomination.
The recipient will be notified by January 21, 2027.

STUDENT WRITING
The California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) is proud to announce the Student Writing Award for the CABE 2027 Annual Conference. This year’s theme, Embracing Multilingualism: Shaping the Future—Every Language, Every Student, celebrates the power of multiple languages and cultures in strengthening relationships, fostering belonging, and shaping a future where every language is valued and every student is empowered to thrive.
The recipients will be notified by January 21, 2027.

BILINGUAL TEACHERSHIPS
The CABE 2027 Bilingual Teachership Award is an endowment fund established by CABE to award $2,000 to college and university students seeking a teaching career and pursuing a bilingual teaching credential/authorization. CABE encourages members who are enrolled in a college or university and have declared a major leading to a California bilingual teaching credential/authorization to apply for a CABE Bilingual Teachership Award. CABE chapter leaders, regional representatives, and individual members may nominate college or university students for the CABE 2027 Bilingual Teachership Award.
The recipients will be notified by January 21, 2027.
